Incoming High Academic Freshman Scholarship

The Incoming High Academic Freshman scholarship serves to encourage incoming first-year students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in mathematics and science in high school, as evidenced by high standardized test scores (ACT or SAT), high GPA especially in STEM and overall coursework, and completion of advanced (AP/IB/dual-credit) coursework in math and science. The scholarship aims to support students who will contribute to academic rigor, leadership in STEM fields, and the university’s reputation for excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

All newly enrolled students at Missouri S&T are encouraged to apply.  The recipients of this scholarship are NOT required to become a member of Theta Xi.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must satisfy all of the following:

  1. Incoming Freshman
      • Must be a newly enrolled first-time freshman to the university (i.e. not transfer, not already a college student).
  2. Standardized Test Score
      • Minimum ACT composite superscore of 30 – Include individual subject scores
        Minimum SAT equivalent
  3. High School Academic
      • PerformanceExceptional performance in science and mathematics classes (grades A or equivalent in advanced/math & science courses).
  4. Advanced Coursework in Math & Science
      • Completion of multiple AP, IB, International A-Level, honors, or dual-credit courses in mathematics and science.  Indicate highest level Math, Chemistry and / or Physics courses taken and grades for each.

Up to 4 scholarships of up to $2,000 each will be awarded for fall term.

Deadline for this year’s submission is May 31, 2026 at 5:00pm central time.

Scholarship awards will be announced on August 31, 2026.
